Madonna delays tour opening by two days

Madonna's MDNA Tour is now planned to kick off on May 31 (a Thursday) at Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv, two days later than previously scheduled due to production delays.

The change in the opening date was announced today by promoters. All tickets dated May 29 will be honored at the rescheduled May 31 concert.

The Material Girl already has announced 76 concert dates throughout Europe and North America with confirmed sales of more than 1.4 million tickets to date, says Live Nation.

There has been some naysaying about the album and tour. MDNA debuted at No. 1 and earned positive reviews, but then experienced a sharp sale s decline in its second week and tour tickets sales were reported to have "tapered off."

But promoters say today MDNA is a hot ticket, noting that the tour has already sold out in Berlin (two shows sold out), Amsterdam, Barcelona and Istanbul (45,000 tickets sold) as well as Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, Quebec City (70,000 tickets), New York's Yankee Stadium (73,000 tickets over two shows), Washington and Los Angeles.
