Pariah

Alike (Adepero Oduye) is a 17-year-old African American beginning to embrace her sexual orientation. With the help of her openly lesbian best friend and supportive younger sister, Alike (pronounced Ah-lee-kay) searches for love while coping with parents whose marital strain is exacerbated whenever she is the topic of discussion.

A legendary bandit (director Jiang Wen) shows up in a town in 1920s China to proclaim himself mayor in this violent-action black comedy. But a ruthless crime lord (Chow Yun-Fat) already is in control. Bullets do fly, but cunning will decide the winner.
