Chatting With… Kylie Minogue (Part 1)!

This was so good - and juicy - we had enough for two parts!

We recently caught up with our beloved Kylie Minogue and we had A LOT to catch up on!

The pop pixie spilled the beans on the big comeback of "pop" music we are experiencing right now, One Direction, performing for the Queen's jubilee, why London is such an exciting place to be right now - and we will be there all of July!, her new single - Time Bomb, the secrecy surrounding the song's music video, her upcoming album she's been working on, why she lied to Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters recently, the infectiousness of Call Me Maybe and MORE!

Read some highlights from our chat with Kylie… after the jump!

Perez: Hi everybody it's Perez, joined by Kylie Minogue.

Kylie: Hi.

Perez: Kylie. We're in Los Angeles.

Kylie: We are, it's lucky you're here actually because you're Mr. Travel these days.

Perez: I know, I've been traveling a lot. Actually I'm going to be in London all of July. I'm very excited about that.

Kylie: London. Be warned.

Perez: I'm going to Wimbledon.

Kylie: Oh great.

Perez: I'm going to go see Madonna â€"

Kylie: Have strawberries and cream

Perez: â€" in Hyde Park. Yes, do that. Go to see shows.

Kylie: You know what, London is so happening right now. I was just there for the Jubilee, which was fantastic.

Perez: You performed.

Kylie: I performed. I met the Queen; I met a few other royals. So yeah, it's really great. I'm glad you're going, it's a great time to be there.

Perez: Now you've been living there for such a long time now, and everybody knows you're from Australia. But you're Kylie Minogue now or you have been.

Kylie: I always was, for quite a while.

Perez: You're super established. You could live anywhere you wanted, but what draws you or keeps you in London?

Kylie: [Watch above.]

Perez: We are in a very exciting time.

Kylie: Why?

Perez: Because pop music is back. I'm talking about like pure pop, like straight down the middle pop, like boy bands in the US are back with Wanted, and One Direction and â€"

Kylie: One Direction. Yeah, [Watch above].

Perez: Yeah even, or even like that Carley Ray Jepson girl with that "Call me Maybe".

Kylie: Can we just, can we just talk about that song? [Watch above]

Kylie: Well thank you so much.

Perez: You have a new song out now, "Timebomb".

Kylie: I have a "Timebomb". Just came from nowhere.

Perez: I know, I was going to say, explain this to me because â€"

Kylie: Explain yourself Ms. Minogue.

Perez: â€" it's not really attached to an album. You just did it for fun.

Kylie: It's done as part of K25.

Perez: Okay, so it's a part â€"

Kylie: Catch tag K25 because it's my 25th year in the music industry. So I'm doing lots of different things, but most notably on the 25th of each month we upload a surprise on my website. So its tweet to unlocken fans after really being engaged, and get busy on the laptops and phones, and whatever to unlock.

Perez: Yeah, you're doing a lot of different things.

Kylie: Yeah, and we had â€"

Perez: Some acoustic videos too.

Kylie: We had stuff from Abbey Road, stuff from my Anti Tour, stuff from rehearsals. And then we had this song "Timebomb" that we were literally sitting on, and I mean, random, weirdly enough that it's called "Timebomb" and we actually felt like we're sitting on something that feels very current so let's not wait until my album, new album next year, let's really embrace it as part of K25. So â€"

Perez: You did a video and everything though. It's a cover.

Kylie: It was like organizing the biggest surprise party. It was â€" I actually, I had to lie to Jake Shears. I [watch above].

Perez: What was the codename?

Kylie: [Watch above.]

(Clip)

Perez: And you're in America promoting it.

Kylie: I am. Yeah, it feels good to be back, and you know connecting with everyone again, it's nice.

Perez: And, and recording or just, just you're â€" well you mentioned a new album next year.

Kylie: I was recording here in January.

Perez: You were recording in January. So you've already been working on the new album?

Kylie: Yeah, I've started work on the next album.

Perez: Oh can you tell us any of the folks you've been working with?

Kylie: [Watch above.]

Perez: Sure. That's true. Well we all know you started in soap operas, but what made you want to start and so a song or two or do music as well or how did you start off in music?

Kylie: Well I know love music. I was the girl daydreamer. I actually had like a full on daydream that my next-door neighbor was a record producer, and he would hear me sing. I mean, I'm seven or eight singing into the hairbrush, and doing the "Grease" maneuvers. So I did always love music, and I started learning, went to like rhythm musical class around four, and learnt piano, and violin, and flute. And so music was always around.

Perez: Do you still play any of those?

Kylie: No. I completely â€" I can hold the flute, I just can't remember what to do. But my mum was really keen to, not to force us into that kind of thing. My mum was (inaudible), kind of got that performing side. But just to expose us to that, and see if we liked it, and strangely my sister, and I both completely fell into it, and my brother works as a cameraman, so he's on the other side.
