Soap opera actress Heather Tom cannot be categorically denied when it comes to the Daytime Emmys.
Tom, 36, won for best lead actress for her work on CBS drama The Bold and the Beautiful at the annual awards ceremony held last night in Beverly Hills. She is the first to win that category after previously being awarded the trophies for supporting actress and younger actress. Tom's work is not limited to daytime soaps. The veteran actress also has made guest appearances on various prime-time series such as The Mentalist, Criminal Minds and Ugly Betty. At the awards, Tom showed off her growing baby bump. She previously announced that she and her husband are expecting a baby in th e fall.
ABC's General Hospital took home five trophies, including best drama, directing team and prizes for lead actor Anthony Geary and supporting performers Nancy Lee Grahn and Jonathan Jackson.
The syndicated show Live With Regis and Kelly took home prizes for entertainment talk show and talk-show host. The show became Live With Kelly after Regis Philbin left the daily program in the fall so in a way, this was Daytime Emmy's salute to the veteran TV personality. And while executive producer Michael Gelman picked up awards for Live, hosts from other shows were spotted talking among themselves during the night. They included: Sharon Osbourne from The Talk and Barbar a Walters from The View.
