Radiohead says they must cancel several upcoming shows following a June 16 stage collapse before their concert in Toronto. The collapse, which killed drum technician Scott Johnson and injured three other crew members, destroyed the band's light show.
"This show was unique and will take many weeks to replace," the band says in a statement released on Thursday. The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace." The statement goes on to say that while "we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with." The following shows will be rescheduled:
June 30: Roma Hippodrome Capanelle
July 1: Firenze Parco delle Cascine
July 3: Bologna Arena Parco Nord
July 4: Codroipo Villa Manin
July 6: Berlin Wuhlheide
July 7: Berlin Wuhlhedie
July 9: St Triphon Carriere des Andonces
The band says new dates for these shows will be announced on Wednesday. Refunds will be provided for those who cannot attend the rescheduled dates.
