Who Shot Rock? Museum exhibit offers answers.

Who Shot Rock? Museum exhibit offers answers.

Who Shot Rock Roll celebrates the photographers behind the famous images of musicians who define the genre. The first exhibit of its kind, now at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles through Oct. 7, Who Shot spotlights the work of more than 100 photographers.

Guest curator Gail Buckland, author of the book of the same title, upon which the exhibit is based, spoke with USA TODAY about some of the photographs in the show.

Who Shot Rock Roll expanded its horizons to include hip-hop, incorporating Josh Cheuse’s shot of seminal rap group Run-DMC taping an episode of MTV’s Live At the Ritz in 1984. “I responded to pictures that expressed music of the youth culture, whatever the period was,” Buckland says.
